Twice he had beaten her - TWICE. That cocky Old Codger wouldn't beat her this time! No she had an ACE up her sleeve this time! His Fighting-types were no match for her Team now! They had all grown stronger in leaps and bounds - and Ruth was incredibly proud of that. Ruth had just arrived in Olivine after a whole day of traveling back from Ecruteak and was planning on flying Dragonite to Cianwood to finally pummel that Fighting Fool tomorrow. Ruth walked through the Industrial City, Dance music surging through her headphones as her Red eyes took in the large building. By the look on her face she was lost...again, she hadn't taken the time to really take a good look at this City when she had passed through it weeks before. Ruth had honestly rushed through it to get to catch a boat to Cianwood. She was beginning to regret that.
The Red head was looking for a place to crash for the night, namely the Pokemon Center. Ruth jumped onto a thick cement railing that was a yard off the ground. She stepped along carefully, her arms spread straight out like she was some sort of kid. Ruth grinned when her head turned toward the ocean, all movement stopping and her arms falling. It sparkled in the dying sunlight, staining it a vibrant orange with a small hints of yellow and red. Her red eyes dart over to the boats, the wind beginning to blow past her as she caught sight of the Docks and the boats clinging to them. She grinned and hopped down from the railing and took off toward them, knowing the view would be amazing.
Coincidentally, she past right by the Pokemon Center; however, she did not notice it. Ruth's feet thunked against the Docks as she pushed past a couple drunk sailors to get to the ends of the Docks. The view had been sooooooooooo much better over here than on that railing. Behind her, the sailors were staring at her and making vulgar motions toward her - she would have cursed them out if she had seen, but she was too distracted by the view. She looked toward the horizon, seeing a small little dot she knew to be the Whirl Islands. Should she pay a visit to those Islands after she beat Chuck? ...Maybe she would. They were so...mysterious~!

"HAHA~ Chrysanthemum-… Wow, fancy name… It’s a great vacation spot, with a beach and everything! But I’m only looking forward to the contest there." Charlie waved a pamphlet in front of his face, with eyes that gleamed enthusiastically. His drunk smile obviously meant that he was in a good mood. Chrysanthemum is a name belonging to an exclusive island where Charlie’s next contest is held. However, getting there was a problem. Seeing that it’s location was never mentioned, all was said about how to get there was that he had to take a boat from one of Kanto’s island in order to get there.
Mai, ( his recently hatched Mareep ) had been placed inside Charlie’s jade-green bag ( positioned as if it were a backpack ), with only her delicate head poked out in the open… enabling her to breath. Even though Charlie could feel her kicking and digging into his back, he was in too much of a daze to care. Apparently the newborn Mareep is finally bored of her ‘imprisonment’ and wants to start roaming the city. Thankfully, her trainer still had enough common sense in him not to give her freedom.
Charlie then glanced over at the other person walking beside him, whose name is Kevin Vesley. A trainer that he is, but unlike Charlie he was not a Coordinator. Instead Kevin’s goal involved defeating Gym Leaders, obtaining badges, and entering the league ( and frontier, etc. ). They were just two people, with two different motives, but all the same style in battle. To Charlie, Kevin is an irreplaceable childhood friend… Though something this sentimental is often left unsaid. Its only been a month or so since Charlie started traveling with Kevin, only because they were heading the same way anyway. A town/city with a gym meant that an active contest stadium might be around there as well… A fair trade, when you think about it.
Charlie walked near the harbor - or parking space for boats, so he can get a clearer lighting when he rereads the pamphlet of his next destination. He ended up shoving through the drunk civilians, while still managed to transfer all his focus onto brochure. For the thought of "rest before next travel" never occurred to him. Charlie may have accidentally left his friend behind in the crowd.

Kevin laughed as his friend waved the pamphlet in front of his face, obviously excited by what was about to happen. They were headed towards Chrysanthemum, some island off the coast of Johto that was apparently a great place to spend your vacation. But that's not what the two teens were interested in, no, their minds were either focused on contests or battling. Kevin thought of both actually, although he was a trainer primarliy. Interested in juggling and good at it too, he liked to show off his skills to people, sometimes even involving his pokemon as well. They had never won any contests, but that didn't mean they didn't have fun participating in them. Kevin and Flygon had actually come close to winning one before, but...well let's just say that the judges didn't like getting fired at with Dragonbreath.
Kevin stretched his arms up as his friend continued to walk towards the Olivine harbor, totally absorbed in his pamphlet. Kevin stopped for a few seconds because he thought he saw something, but it was just the shadows playing tricks on him. When he brought his attention forward again, Charlie was gone, probably beyond the crowd of drunken sailors. "Hey! Charlie! Yo wait up!" He ran forward, almost crashing into a drunken guy, who he exclaimed sorry to before dashing out of the crowd.
"Charlie! Are you deaf or what man!?" His friend hadn't even heard him, still walking and now on the docks. Kevin raced forward around Charlie and stopped, turning on his heels to face his good friend. He crossed his arms as he looked at the sixteen year-old. "People would think you're lookin' at government documents the way you're pouring over that paper." He laughed as he nodded towards the pamphlet before grabbing Charlie by the shoulders, bringing the kid to a complete stop. Kevin didn't even realize that a certain red-haired girl was standing behind them at the edge of the dock.

Ruth finally turns from the Docks at the sound of laughing Sailors, she looks at them and mutters her famous catchphrase, which they hear. They look at her and grunt, cat call - the whole she-bang. She struts past them, nose in the hair and her hands on her hips, but is taken aback when one of them grab her arm and pull her back toward them. "Hey, c'mon girly - don't be like that! Come have fun with us tonight~!" She looks at them then looks away, noticing Kevin. A sly smile passes over her lips, so their paths meet again? Oh goody, that means she could have fun tonight - they hadn't spent time together in ages after all. A memory forces itself to the front of her mind, the one where they had spent the whole night drinking - underage I may add. They had said after they got over their hangovers that they wanted to do that again, but they hadn't gotten the chance. A devious idea forms in her head as she turns back to the Sailors.
Ruth nodded and smirked up at them, a smirk that flew right over their heads. "Get some beer for me then - don't be stingy now." The men grin stupidly at each other and run off to the nearest store. Ruth watches them leave and then begins to dig for a pokeball. "They are so fool." She says as she calls Gengar out into the open. "Don't you agree?" Gengar grins up at her in that creepy way of his, instantly knowing what was about to go down. He floats up in the air for a moment before suddenly dropping, moving through the floor of the dock. Once he was out of sight, Ruth turns her head to look at Kevin - who still hadn't noticed her yet - and noticed he had a friend with him.
Now this friend...was quite easy on the eyes, but Ruth was a little disappointed that she couldn't reunite with her childhood buddy. Oh well, most of Kevin's friends were alright - hopefully he hadn't lowered his standards in the past few years. The Sailors come back with two six-packs. She raises her leg and taps the Dock hard with her foot twice, summoning Gengar up just as they stop in front of her. They went down with one use of Hypnosis and Ruth smiled sweetly at her Pokemon and then returned him to his ball. He disappears and she stuffs the ball in one of her many chest pockets before leaning down to pick up the beer, one in each hand.
Ruth struts down the dock and kicks Kevin in the side of the leg as she passed him. "C'mon Kevin - I have beer." She looks at his friend curiously and smiles with a hint of mischief in her eye. "He can come too." Ruth snickers slightly as she begins to step onto Rocks, now off the Docks. She clambered over rocks and avoided the water at times, expecting them to be following her. The Red-Head moves into to a small sandy alcove, tucked into the coastline of Olivine. She drops the pair of six-packs and turns to see how they were doing light-wise. The sun was still setting, but it was much lower in the sky than it had been before - it would definitely be dark soon

"What sucks about these things is… Well, where the hell is the boat to my next target?" Whether he was talking to himself or talking to his friend (whom he left behind), did not matter. Charlie couldn’t help but to speak his mind. The boy did not stop walking, even after he squeezed through the intoxicated crowd. His Mareep attempted to draw her owner’s attention by lightly biting his ear, and yet he paid no mind towards the tingling sensation in his ear. After a couple seconds Mai released her bite, and presumed to pawing her owner’s back.
Suddenly, his friend’s hand gripped on his shoulder cause Charlie to stop. He stared at his traveling partner for a moment, wondering if he had somehow ignored Kevin the entire time he was babbling about the pamphlet. But from what Charlie could recall, he didn’t really hear anything that his friend said… Or was just Charlie deaf? "Right, my bad! I’m just overexcited." He gave a nervous chuckle, before finally realizing that the sun was setting. "I guess we’ll have to find the Pokemon Center, or somewhere good to sleep for the night." Charlie spoke like a true king of obvious. ‘This sucks! I was really hoping to-…’
Before he had anytime time to analyze anymore of his current situation, some girl walked up to them while holding liquor in her hands. However, Charlie was surprised that the girl knew who Kevin was. And she omitted this slightly cynical smirk that gave Charlie the impression that this was her way of being affectionate. It was the kind of vibe you get from hard-to-get women from a bar. Charlie took one glance at her before she moved away, for he already came to a conclusion: she must be Kevin’s girlfriend. As soon she was at a good distance, Charlie nudged his friend and grinned slyly.
"Well, well, well… You hit the jack-pot there didn’t you, buddy?" Then he started to follow after the girl, seeing that she had beer and all ( and who would be a fool to miss such an opportunity? ). "How come you didn’t tell me you had a girl?"

"Yeah, sorry Char. I know you're excited and all to go, but it really is best to-" Kevin felt a sudden pain lurch up the side of his leg, causing him to bend his knees as he absorbed the impact. He let go of Charlie's shoulders before whipping around to see who his attacker was, and the answer he got, "C'mon Kevin - I have beer."
You could say his face lit up like a Christmas tree, and why wouldn't it? After all, it was none other than one of his best childhood friends, Ruth! A girl he had battled with, traveled with, kissed, seen naked, and most importantly...drank with! "He can come too," Kevin didn't even look back at Charlie, his eyes totally focused on Ruth...she had beer! Well that's not exactly why he was so riveted by her, but deep down he was glad to see her. They hadn't talked in a while, and in the back of his mind he had been wondering how she was doing. Watching her go down to the small sandy alcove, Kevin felt someone elbowing him in the side, "Well, well, well...You hit the jack-pot there didn't you, buddy?"
Caught unaware, Kevin quickly turned back to face Charlie, his cheeks slightly red from blushing, "W-what do you mean?!" Charlie started to walk after her, Kevin's mouth somewhat agape before he shook his head and ran after Charlie. "How come you didn't tell me you had a girl?" Kevin couldn't help by sputter, his friend grinning at him slyly.
"I-it's not l-like that!" Kevin was beginning to be very expressive with his hands as he talked, waving them this way and that, "We-we've been friends for a long time, but we're not together like that! I mean look at her!" Kevin stopped and pointed straight at Ruth, who was standing there on the beach, the beer by her feet. Kevin could feel Charlie giving him one of those 'uh-huh' looks, so he turned back to his friend "Well it's true!" He knew he sounded very childish at the moment, but he didn't know what else to say. He wasn't very experienced in the love department. Kevin then turned towards the direction of Ruth and jogged over to her, lightly jumping over rocks and not really caring whether his feet hit the water.
Arriving next to her, Kevin was panting slightly, the sun setting behind Ruth. "So what are you doing here Ruthie?" Luckily he had gained back his composure as he ran over to her, so he wouldn't look like a complete idiot. He was now giving her a caring smile, making him look somewhat adorable. He did miss her, but they were definitely not boyfriend and girlfriend.

Ruth dusted off her skirt a few times and then began to adjust her pigtails, tightening them so they wouldn't come down anytime soon. She took a look toward the dying sunlight and then figured they should make a small fire just in case it got really dark out. She assumed they would be out late anyway - so they would need one to make sure they didn't trip, fall, break their nose, and then drown. She quickly began gathering dry driftwood and threw it into a pile near the beer, figuring she would at least save Kevin some work of making this fire. She straightened up, noticing that he had arrived in the alcove after making sure to take his dear sweet time doing so. Ruth placed her hands on her hips and smirked proudly - if only he knew how much stronger they had gotten since the last time they met.
Maybe she had a Napoleon complex, and she was secretly - or perhaps even subconsciously - trying to compensate for her height with this naughty, devious, slightly bossy, narcissistic attitude of hers. Either way, she still stood up tall and proud against even the tallest and toughest people - maybe it was just dumb, blind bravery or maybe she could really back it up. Kevin would probably know the answer to all these scenarios - since he had been with her so long after all. They were Childhood friends, grew up in the same neighborhood, with the same ambitions nearly too! They both wanted to be Champions - the best that there are, but one of them had to be better. Ruth thought herself better than Kevin, being a narcissist and all - but she still cared for Kevin tremendously. They've been together since the beginning after all.
"Heading to Mahogany to kick Pryce's ass - I'm heading there first thing tomorrow!" She snickers slightly before leaning forward and grabbing his collar before gesturing to the wood at their feet. "Now, in return for the beer, you're going to make us all a Fire - on your own so don't think of bringing out Quilava!" She didn't know that the little hedgehog had evolved, but she still would have kicked him again if he thought of bringing his first pokemon out. Ruth grinned again as she grabbed the beer and set it down on a flat rock nearby.
The alcove was pretty small and far from the Docks, and in reality the sandy and slightly rocky alcove was just a small crevice in a mountain-y area. Probably eight feet wide and double that in length. Ruth stretched her arms and then plopped down, making sure to keep her legs together like a lady. With her legs straight out in front of her and her right arm around the cases of beer, she watched Kevin do her bidding.

As the two males followed the mysterious (or rather in Charlie’s case) female to wherever the hell she was taking them, Charlie curiously listened to his friend’s reasoning. Charlie quickly noted how hesitantly Kevin had reacted, or denied Charlie’s assumptions on them being a couple. But the obvious fact remains: Kevin is blushing. While the other trainer was still speaking, Charlie accidentally zoned out of the conversation while still walking obediently towards the new comer. ‘She must be a amazing person to have some flustering like this.’ Charlie began to ponder.
The coordinator gave a nonchalant expression, as if to physically saying that he wasn’t believing anything that Kevin was saying. But apparently his training partner caught on and immediately objected. “Heeehhhh…” He almost sounded disappointed, even though what he said wasn’t suppose to imply anything. Until he added, “You make this too easy, my friend.” . He silently muttered, and then spontaneously started grinning again. In any case, Kevin had already went over the girl so he doubted that Kevin would have heard it.
Charlie decided to stay behind, allowing the two individuals to catch… and hook up. But there was doubt to that last part, seeing that wasn’t any romantic “spark” between them. The coordinator decided to observe his surroundings a little more. Not that it had significance or had any beneficial part in his life, still it wouldn’t kill a person to enjoy the setting sun from time to time. He is a traveling trainer after all. By the time he caught up to the two (which didn’t take too long), the woman had already went and gave these order to Kevin like some slave.
Perhaps when the guy is doing her bidding, Charlie could get to know this amazing childhood friend of his. But first is first, the introduction is always important to starting a good conversation. “So… You’re Kevin’s friend, huh? Nice to meet you-” He then stuck out his right hand and expected her to do the same only with the opposite hand; that way he would look so stupid to be expecting a handshake. “you can call me Charlie. And you are…?”

Kevin smirked and crossed his arms at his friend's response. Just like her...to be the first to jump into a battle with full confidence. Must be due to having a Napoleon Complex...Kevin would never say it to her face of course, since it would earn him a good slap and a kick you-know-where. Also, there was no proof that she had such a thing, but...all the signs seemed to be there. Before Kevin could even come up with something to say, Ruth leaned forward and grabbed his collar. His face slightly surprised as she brought his head down to her level, blinking as she told him her order.
"Eh!? Collect and make a- Do I look like a slave to you?!" The look on her face answered the question as she suddenly let go of him and walked towards some rocks. Placing the beer down on a flat rock, she also plopped down, her legs in a very lady-like position. Kevin closed his slightly open mouth before turning around to see where the wood was. It was getting dark and fast...Kevin suddenly faced her again, pouting angrily, "And by the way, Quilava is a Typhlosion now thank you very much! And I can build a fire just fine without my starter!" He really could, but his pokemon liked to come out at night when camping, so Typhlosion usually just started a fire for them. Kevin then stomped off, collecting wood as he went as well as muttering along the way.
"Telling me what to do, that little piece of..." Kevin saw Charlie had arrived to the little alcove out of the corner of his eye. He was probably laughing inside at Kevin being told what to do and going around to pick up twigs. Oh well, Kevin was used to it by now. He liked getting people to laugh...just not in ways where it involved short egotistical creatures with pink hair.
"No way," Kevin stopped as he heard Charlie giving his little "famous" introduction, "He's gonna make a move on her..." Kevin couldn't help but start snickering. This was going to be fun to watch.

"Well yeah! Didn't you realize that you were a long time ago?" She grinned and laughed at him, hadn't he noticed their relationship dynamic? Ruth couldn't help but take a steep turn of emotions at his next statement though. Quilava had evolved? Ruth's eyebrows shoot up in surprise for a moment before she just grins in that naughty way of hers. Feraligatr would be happy to hear that...Ruth couldn't help but wonder who would win in a fight. Her Pokemon had the type advantage, but Ruth had quickly learned that a mere typing didn't seal your victory. She gave him a sly look before letting him walk off without another oh-so-clever quip from the oh-so-great Ruthie.
Ruth watched with amusement playing upon her features as Kevin went to gather more driftwood for their fire. Oh, he was such a devoted minion wasn't he? The Red-head's smirk widened into something devious, perhaps enjoying the dominant role in their friendship. The other boy, who she assumed was friends with Kevin, offered both his hand and his name to her. She smiled up at him and gripped his hand with her own in a handshake. "Name's Ruth - how do you know Kevin?" She took her hand out of his and looked up at him through narrowed eyes. He didn't strike her for someone who'd hang out with Kevin's friends were usually more.....funny-looking. He was more neat, proper, and...well handsome. He didn't look stupid like Kevin's guy friends or half as mature as this boy in front of her looked.
(( Short, my apologies ))
