"Jericho, dodge them!"
The Luxio's eyes widened as the three blots of poison came hurling his way; Fast as he was there was no way he could have avoided them all at one ago, and as he dodged the first and second hail of brown crud spattered upon the soil, leaving behind a bubbling mass of goo which smelt faintly of sewage.
Not good.
The third one splash right across his face as he let out a yowl of pain and surprise, feeling the miniscule microbes burn and dig into his flesh. It stung and stank and he growled what would have amounted to leonine obsceneties as he dragged his face across the ground to try and wipe the stuff off; Already he could feel it taking effect and making his head throb like a taiko drum, and if he used his paws to try and wipe it off, the effect would only be worse.
Rayne's eyes narrowed as her lips thinned while watching the preceedings of this battle. Jericho was most proficient when allowed to forge out a full-blown attack in accordance with his elemental type, but the Gligar was obviously immune to electricity. Dominique would have been more effective on the battlefield, but the Floatzel needed rest and she was saving up Wolfgang for the final round.
No matter.
She had made a point much earlier in her training to ensure that most of her furry comrades carried at least two or three types of different moves to ensure none woukd be deadlocked on the battlefield, and if electricity wouldn't get the job done, hopeuflly something else would.
The Luxio let out a loud snarl as he tried to see through his one good eye; Monoscopic vision meant his accuracy was down but as the Quick Claw on his chest glowed, he felt himself become a little faster though increasingly agitated from the way his head hurt from the poison.
"Calm down and think, Jericho. Use all your senses, hear him out, smell him out, plan."
He heard his mistress say calmly. At least she wasn't like one of those bubbleheads who went ballistic at first hit.
He hated humans with too much drama. A battle was a battle, not a scream-fest.
The Luxio's ear perked up as he heard the rustling of leaves and branches from where something large and flapping was making a small commotion.
The Gligar was hiding up in the trees, was he?
Well then, he would come up there and say hello.
He fought the horrible urge to throw up as he heard Rayne's orders,
"Use Roar! Either flush him out of the trees or demolish his cover!"
The Luxio ran towards the group of trees and sucked in as much breath as he could, letting out a thunderous RRRRRRAAAAUURRRMMMMM!!!!!! which came out in a huge, forceful wave that blasted against the foliage, shuddered the boughs and kicked up dirt from the ground.
He could hear that flapping again as the Gligar attempted to move from tree to tree; Three trees he could guarantee were empty. The fourth was rustling in a manner that suggested that the creature hiding there was far too big for a bird Pokemon, compounded by the fact that it smelt of leather, not feathers.
Bat wings.
"Get some leverage! Cats always land on all fours!"
The Luxio leapt onto one of the trees, digging his claws into the bark as he climbed it quickly as he could until they seemed to be on a level playing ground.
He used to be fearful of heights as a cub. Not so much now.
"Use Night Slash!"
As he found his perch on a particularly thick branch, his claws grew longer and glowed with an evil violet hue as he set his eyes on the Gligar's rustling. He let out a loud yowl as he jumped towards the animal, paws and claws outstretched to tear into skin and leather...
